Cinnamon oil is obtained from small and bushy evergreen trees native to Sri Lanka, but now cultivated in other countries like Brazil, Egypt and Indonesia. The aromatic tree consists of small white flowers with dark green leaves. It was considered so valuable, that often it was prioritized over gold in the course of its history. For centuries, cinnamon leaf was used in herbal remedies by the Chinese.
